How the Injil Teaches Us to Pray to Allah (Private Prayer)

Many people want to pray to Allah but are unsure what to say. The Injil records that Isa (Jesus) gave clear guidance about prayer. He warned that prayer should not be a performance for other people, but a sincere conversation with Allah.

The Injil says:

“When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6)

This teaching is about sincerity. Allah already knows your needs. Prayer is not about impressing people or repeating empty words. It is about turning your heart toward Allah honestly.

Isa then gave a simple pattern for prayer. It is not meant to be recited mechanically. Instead, it shows the order of the heart when approaching Allah.

The Pattern of Prayer

The prayer taught in the Injil can be understood through five simple themes.

1. Praise

Begin by honoring Allah.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”

In other words: acknowledge that Allah is holy, great, and above all things. Start prayer by recognizing His greatness and authority.

2. Purpose

Align your heart with Allah’s will.

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

This means asking that Allah’s plan, justice, and truth would guide your life and the world around you.

3. Provision

Ask Allah for your daily needs.

“Give us today our daily bread.”

This includes food, work, health, guidance, and strength for the day. It reminds us that everything we receive ultimately comes from Allah.

4. Pardon

Ask for forgiveness and extend forgiveness to others.

“Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.”

The Injil teaches that the heart must be humble before Allah. If we want forgiveness from Allah, we must also release bitterness toward others.

5. Protection

Ask Allah to guide and guard you.

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

Life contains many tests. This part of prayer asks Allah for protection from sin, deception, and spiritual harm.

A Simple Way to Remember

The pattern can be remembered with five simple words:

  • Praise — honour Allah’s greatness
  • Purpose — ask for Allah’s will
  • Provision — ask for daily needs
  • Pardon — ask forgiveness and forgive others
  • Protection — ask for guidance and safety

These five steps help keep prayer balanced and sincere.

They turn prayer from empty repetition into a meaningful conversation with Allah.

Continuing the Journey

Prayer raises an important question: How can the human heart truly find rest before Allah on the Day of Judgment?

The Injil addresses this question directly.
